House2House National Conference-Information and Registration now available on the web!
It was only a week ago that I sent out the last e-letter, with a continued focus on the importance of infrastructure, building with the right DNA. So let’s take a break from infrastructure in this e-letter, and instead focus on the incredible opportunities that the Lord is presenting.
I’m going to start with the National Conference. Many of you have Labor Day weekend marked in your calendars a year in advance. We always hold the House 2 House National House Church Conference over this weekend, so that people can plan ahead, and so that you still have a day off to recover on the Monday! This year we are really excited to let you know that Wayne Jacobson, author of books such as “So You Don’t Want To Go To Church Anymore” and “He Loves Me“, co-host of The God Journey podcast, and the publisher of “The Shack“, is going to be leading our thinking. Go here to find out more and to be a part of early registration.
One of the things that I love about the blogosphere is the incredible variety of talent and truth that you see out there. In one of Seth Godin’s recent blogs he pointed people to this video link. Here is the world accurately describing leadership in ways that we Christians can learn from. Its just a 90 second clip. Check it out!
Thinking of blogs, I don’t often comment on the patient advocacy service that my company provides, nor do I often share my thoughts on the current state of health care reform. But earlier this week I was asked by the recently started Austin online daily paper to write an article for them on this subject. Go to this link to see what I wrote.
Many of you prayed for Felicity and I and the Luke 10 course weekend that we had in our home last Friday through Sunday. We had a wonderfully challenging time. I don’t know how to summarize it adequately. You will just have to come to one of these next time. But David Watson, from his much wider experience, is about to start a course that you may be able to be a part of. Read about this at this link.
Are you aware that we have quite a collection of resources in other languages, such as Spanish and Chinese, on the H2H website. Check out this link for a starting place. Another site we are eager to share, for those looking for more Spanish resources is at this link. Lindsay Cofield does a great job on this site helping people understand things surrounding the starting of simple churches.
Those of you who were at last year’s national conference will recall a brief presentation that was made about Kairos Prison Ministry. Cary Holley, who was one of those at the conference who is actively involved with this ministry, has asked me to share his email address, cary.holley@emerson.com, so that those wanting to follow up by helping with this prison ministry can easily get in touch with him.
Well, it is approaching 10:30 pm, and my days are really busy at the moment. Anyway, there are already so many links in this e-letter, that if I write any more, none of you will bother to read all of this. So have a wonderful week, and next week we will probably continue the discussion on infrastructure!

By Tony & Felicity Dale and George Barna
Today’s Western culture is indifferent to church and Christians. Yet the early church existed in far harsher conditions—and it thrived. Much like a new litter of rabbits, the infant faith quickly grew and spread. And the result was a world transformed.
In The Rabbit and the Elephant, Tony and Felicity Dale (Simply Church) and George Barna (Revolution) say that the same thing is happening today. As Christians, we are the church – whether we meet in office buildings, college dorm rooms, coffee shops, factories, or homes – and the Holy Spirit uses us to expand that church to the far reaches of the globe. By practicing “simple church,” we’ll find that a small gathering of friends loving Jesus together and reaching out to the community around them can help us to be the church, the way God intended.
The rabbit and the elephant. Something small and something big. Find out what lessons they hold for you, for the body of Christ, and for the future of church as we know it.
From Eternity to Here: Rediscovering the Ageless Purpose of God

Deep within God’s Word lies a wondrous story like no other. A drama that originated before time began. An epic saga that resonates with the heartbeat of God. A story that reveals nothing less than the meaning of life and God’s great mission in the earth. From Eternity to Here presents three remarkable stories spanning Genesis to Revelation. Each story traces a divine theme that is woven throughout Scripture. Seen together, they offer an extraordinary glimpse into God’s highest passion and grand mission. What you discover will forever change your view of life, the church, and our magnificent God.
Organic Leadership
by Neil Cole
What are the weeds that hinder the natural growth of godly leadership? Are programs, people, and money truly the signs of a successful church? Where can you find an unlimited source of leaders? How do you mentor others so that they multiply? In Organic Leadership, Neil Cole asks these questions and more, boldly challenging many of the ideas about leadership and church life that we all take for granted.
